Robert McIntire Pollard, age 81, of Quincy, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 9:58 am in Good Samaritan Home, Quincy, Illinois.

Bob was born on June 16, 1941 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Frank McIntire and Mary Margaret Hedrick Pollard. He married Katherine “Kathy” Weis on July 17, 1965 at First Union Congregational Church in Quincy. She survives.
A graduate of Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest, Illinois, he also attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where he played the trumpet in the Mustang Band and the Jazz Group. He graduated from Quincy College.
Serving in the United States Army, Bob was stationed in Okinawa where his new bride, Kathy, was able to join him. He and Kathy owned and operated the Quincy Travel Center / Ask Mr. Foster for over 20 years. Bob was a 50 year member of the Quincy Country Club.
His profound love for Jazz music was developed and inspired by listening to jazz with his dad when he was young. He enjoyed playing golf and had the opportunity to play in Scotland on a few occasions over the years. Bob’s English Springer Spaniels and English Cocker Spaniels played an important part in his life.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, Kathy, Bob is survived by two sons, Alex Pollard of Lauderdale by the Sea, FL, and Nick (Loli-Respini) Pollard of Frisco, CO; two grandsons, Enzo and Teó Pollard, both of Frisco, CO; a sister, Ann (Rupert) Harwell of Greensboro, NC; a sister-in-law, Virginia “Jill” Harrity of Bryn Mawr, PA; a brother-in-law, Henry Birdsall “Jack” (Marney) Weis of Cincinnati, OH; three nieces, Anna Harwell (Chris) Celenza, Mary Harwell, and Robin (Christopher) Sailor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his father- and mother-in-law, Henry Birdsall and Virginia Ohnemus Weis.
The Pollard family will have a private service and entombment at Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum.
